Acrostic Poem

I am learning to write an Acrostic poem by using describing words.

Little eyes

A lot of antennas

Detailed spots.

Yummy leaves

Big wings

Under leaves

Great smooth back

Collage Ladybug

Here we sketched ladybugs onto black paper. Then we cut out the ladybugs and leaves. We added spots and strips to add detail to our ladybugs and leaves. It was very time consuming when it came to gluing all the pieces together, but we done it!

Fatima "It was so hard that I had to get the glue off of my whiteboard because it was too sticky. I thought it was easy to twist paper to make the detail of the leaves. I wouldn’t change anything. I liked cutting the parts of the leaves."

Memorable Story

I am learning to write about a funny moment.

Fatima " I liked talking to my buddy and to the class about my funny thing that my mum did. It was easy to think of a funny moment to write about. I still find it tricky to write some words but the alphabet card helps me when I get stuck."

Maths Game

      This is one of my favourite maths games to play during                                          maths tumble.

"I like this game because when I go up to reading eggs and when I go to the maths tub I play reading eggs and when I play this game I can do reading better. This is about adding numbers and about putting numbers together to get them altogether"

St John Ambulance

Last week St John Ambulance came to our school. Mac the Paramedic showed us what an emergency looks like and when we should call 111.

 
We were allowed to have a turn with the oxygen mask. This helps people in an event of an emergency when people are not well and are short of breathe.

Reading Eggs

Reading Eggs is an online reading program that helps children learn to read. Hundreds of online reading lessons, phonics games and books to read.

Fatima "I like when I read the books and see the characters like Catty Cake and Apple Ant. In this lesson I have to find the letters that match the picture and then you go up." 

Bubble Wands

This week Room 5 made bubble wands.  They wanted to see if different shaped wands made different shaped bubbles.

We discovered that no matter what shape the bubble wands were, the bubble will always come out in the shape of a sphere.

 For inquiry we are learning all about Bubbles.

We are learning what bubbles are made out of and describing what they look like too!

Here we were making bubbles to help us describe bubbles by using our five senses.

Sunshine Online Reading

Sunshine online Reading

During our reading rotation we get the chance to go on sunshine online to read other books and do activities that are suited to our reading level.

"I like this letter because it starts with my name and we saw the story on the TV and the dogs name was Flash"

ICT Tagul - Word Cloud

Ratty Tatty Cat went in a car. A man took ratty tatty cat in a house.

At Elm Park School we have buddy classes, where a junior class is buddied up with a senior class. Room 5’s buddy class is Room 24 with Miss Hughes.

Room 5 was fortunate to have their buddy class help them do a word cloud on the laptop called Tagul.

With the help of our buddy class we were able to come up with our own word cloud that was related to the Big book Ratty Tatty Cat.

Fatima " I liked the picture of the cat. Doing this was like publishing. I was happy because I got to choose one out of the two cats that were there"
